Brother Bear (DVD) (2003)
Brother Bear is a classic Walt Disney animated film that has voice overs contributed by Joachim Phoenix, Jeremy Suarez and Aaron Blaise. The story follows Kenai a Native American boy who is turned into a bear when his father is killed by a mother bear while she is protecting her young. Poor Kenai is then hunted by his own brother, while the rest of the tale sees him living life as a bear, seeing how a bear lives through a bears eyes. He spends his time trying to find a special mountain where he can be transformed back to his former self.
This all sounds tragic but the story in fact is very uplifting charting the relationship between Kenai and a bear cub he meets along the way. Rick Moranis and Doug Thomas voice a pair of moose who are really funny and somewhat steal the show. Musically the film is sound with Phil Collins providing appropriate tunes for the piece. Kids will love Disney Studios endearing magical bear story; while so will the entire family too!
Yogi Bear (DVD) (2011)
Yogi Bear is an all-time classic bear that those of us who were born in the fifties will remember with affection. Yogi and Boo-Boo were part of our childhood along with Mickey Mouse and Bugs Bunny but Yogi, Boo-Boo and those ever present picnic baskets were the winners for us!
This 2011 DVD features the voices of Dan Aykroyd as Yogi and Justin Timberlake as Boo-Boo, while being seventy seven minutes long watching their antics is a great way to spend an hour or so of spare time. The “smarter than the average bear” is as funny as ever and is still wreaking havoc in Jelly Stone Park. Ranger Smith is here too attempting to keep things in order but as ever when Yogi is around this is impossible.
The story this time sees Yogi in danger of losing his home as the mayor is threatening to close the park and sell it on. Yogi and Boo-Boo must collaborate with Ranger Smith to find a way to save the park. As ever the results are very funny and fans of Yogi will not be disappointed with this great DVD. Presented in 3D Yogi truly comes to life in this superb animation.
